Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Shipping (Independent Charge) and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India dedicated to the Nation RCF - BPCL Sewage Treatment Plant on 27th December, 2019 at RCF Trombay unit, Chembur, Mumbai in presence of Shri Sujit Kumar, IAS, Secretary to Minister of State for Shipping (IC) and Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India, Shri S. C. Mudgerikar, Chairman & Managing Director, RCF & other dignitaries of RCF & BPCL.
RCF-BPCL STP Plant is a sustainability development project as it will treat waste sewage generated in the city of Mumbai and convert it in to treated water adopting latest technology having designed capacity to treat 22.75 Million Liters per Day (MLD) of municipal sewage. This will produce 15 MLD treated water. The cost of the project is Rs.209 crores.
RCF is already operating one STP Plant of similar capacity for last 19 years and new STP Plant will double the generation of treated water from sewage. This new STP plant will reduce fresh water intake of RCF and BPCL by 15-MLD thereby saving equivalent amount of potable MCGM water for use of Mumbai citizens.
After the inauguration function, Shri Mandaviya visited RCF Trombay unit and reviewed the performance of the company and interacted with senior management.
